Events at the 2012 Fringe
The Stratford Fringe Festival aims to showcase local talent alongside more establised art talent as well as hosting a range of art based activities throughout the week.
ON THE FRINGE - Stratford Fringe Festival Events 2012
Graffiti Wall: Led by expert international Graffiti artist “choloapolo”. The fringe will offer an hour session for people of all ages and backgrounds wishing to give graffiti art a go for the first time. Each person taking part will get a chance to produce an individual piece of work and to take part in a group piece at one of the destinations appearing around Stratford upon Avon during that time. Duration of event (2.5hrs per session).
£5 Art Race: A chance to purchase art for a fiver. Various artists who are taking part in the fringe festival are selling a piece of unframed work to be claimed by the luckiest punter on the night. Viewings run from 7-9pm. Race runs from 9pm at the bell.Tickets on sale from 6pm. Terms and conditions/instructions available on request.
Talk Art Talk: Various talks are happening at the galleries throughout the week from artists who are exhibiting and taking part in the festival. A chance to learn about sculpture, painting, photography and craftsmanship. (30 min sessions with informal drink after).
Life drawing: After proving a real success at last year’s show, the life drawing class is returning once again. The class will be set in a relaxed environment where under guidance of a trained expert, you can learn techniques which will enable you to create the perfect life drawing. Professional models used in a guise of poses provide three 25 minute sessions. All materials provided on the day.Duration of class (1hr 45mins).
Still Life Class: A chance to explore drawing still life in a relaxed informed demonstration led classes. Led by a professional tutor, a chance to learn techniques involved in still life. All materials provided on the day. Duration of class (3hrs with break).
Photography Workshop: A chance to use a variety of photography and camera techniques Digital SLR training, pinhole camera with a practicing professional. The sessions will take place around some of Stratford upon Avon’s stunning architectural heritage. There will be sessions for the beginner which will focus on light, flash, exposure and sessions for the more experienced photographer a chance to bring your own digital camera along and spend some quality time discussing photography technique and taking photographs.
aRTATSTRAT
There will be three main art galleries appearing at the Fringe this year to cater for all tastes. A painting gallery, photography gallery and a sculpture and fashion gallery. Each gallery will represent a mix of Local Artists, Stratford College Art Students, UK talent and European Artists in each of the designated fields. Giving young artists in the town a real chance to exhibit their works with more established artists underlines Colourscrape’s commitment to young people exploring art in Stratford upon Avon.
